Job losses expected to increase dramatically in coming months.
As the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to depress economic growth in the United States, several companies are attempting to make up losses through increasing their hiring to help those who are out of work. Many people who work in retail, restaurants, and bars have had their hours cut, and some have even lost their jobs entirely.
Amazon announced on Monday that it would be hiring an additional 100,000 delivery and warehouse workers to handle the huge demand for home delivery of goods. Large grocery brands like Walmart and Costco have also increased their hiring over the last few weeks. It is expected that as many as 1 million jobs could be lost as a result of the COVID-19 virus.
